Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The appointed Warehouse Manager will be responsible for leading and operating all facets of warehouse operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and accuracy. Key responsibilities include:
- Operational Oversight: Full daily management of all warehouse activities, including goods receipt, storage, picking, packing, and shipping.
- Inventory Management: Ensuring inventory record accuracy through regular cycle counts and the utilization of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). Minimizing shrinkage and damage while optimizing storage for materials, particularly aluminium products.
- Leadership & Team Management: Leading and developing the warehouse team, including training, goal-setting, performance evaluation, and fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensuring all warehouse operations comply with local and international safety regulations (e.g., OSHA equivalents). Implementing and enforcing strict safety protocols to prevent accidents.
- Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvements to increase productivity, reduce costs, and streamline the supply chain. Proposing and implementing new technical or procedural solutions.
- Cross-Department Coordination: Working closely with Purchasing, Sales, Logistics, and Planning departments to ensure alignment between material flow and order fulfillment.
- Reporting: Preparing regular reports on warehouse performance, inventory levels, order accuracy, and other key performance indicators (KPIs) for senior management.
Qualifications & Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Experience: A minimum of 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience in warehouse management, with a proven track record in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably within the metals or building materials sector.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of warehouse management principles, supply chain management, and logistics regulations. Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is a significant advantage.
- Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead and motivate a diverse team, with a history of building high-performing teams.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, with the capacity to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Safety Standards: A strong commitment to workplace safety standards.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field. Equivalent extensive and specialized experience may be considered.
