Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The appointed Welder III will be responsible for performing advanced and complex welding tasks, adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety. The core responsibilities expected for this role include:
- Executing various welding processes (such as SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW) on a range of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, and other metal alloys, in strict accordance with engineering drawing specifications and approved welding codes (e.g., ASME, AWS, API).
- Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, drawings, Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
- Preparing material surfaces for welding, including cleaning, finishing, grinding, and setting weld gaps.
- Performing preliminary Visual Testing (VT) of welds to ensure they are free from visible defects before handover to certified inspectors.
- Maintaining and setting up welding equipment and tools properly to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
- Strictly adhering to all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols on the worksite, including the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Working collaboratively with supervisors, technicians, and engineers to ensure project completion within the specified timeline and required quality standards.
- Work may involve assignments at various locations within the facility or at external project sites.
Qualifications and Essential Requirements
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A diploma in Welding or Industrial Technology, or a recognized vocational training certificate in welding. Internationally recognized certifications are highly preferred.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 5 to 7 years of hands-on welding experience in heavy industrial environments such as Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, or Structural Steel Fabrication. Experience must demonstrate a proven track record as a Welder III or equivalent level.
- Technical Certifications: Must possess valid and current Welder Qualification Certificates according to international standards (e.g., ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1). Pipe welding certifications are a strong advantage.
- Personal Skills:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and under pressure.
- Precision and strong attention to detail.
- A robust safety-conscious mindset.
- Other Requirements: Applicants must possess a valid transferable residency permit (Iqama) in Saudi Arabia. A valid Saudi driving license is preferred.
