Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The Workshop Manager will hold a leadership position responsible for the complete oversight of all workshop activities. Their core focus will be on ensuring smooth operations while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. Specific daily tasks include:
- Leadership & Supervision: Managing the team of workshop technicians and operators, assigning tasks, providing technical guidance and support, and ensuring a productive and collaborative work environment.
- Planning & Scheduling: Developing preventive maintenance plans and repair schedules for all equipment/vehicles to minimize downtime and maximize availability.
- Quality Control: Ensuring all maintenance and repair work is carried out to precise technical specifications and applicable local and international safety standards.
- Resource Management: Overseeing inventory of spare parts and consumables, managing purchase requisitions, and controlling the workshop's operational costs within the allocated budget.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforcing and implementing all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) regulations stringently, conducting regular inspections, and ensuring a safe working environment for all.
- Reporting & Communication: Preparing periodic reports on workshop performance, productivity, costs, and equipment status, and communicating effectively with other departments such as procurement and operations.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements

- Academic Degree: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field. Equivalent extensive and distinguished practical experience may be considered.
- Practical Experience: A minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in managing maintenance or repair workshops, with proven leadership experience in managing teams of 10 or more individuals.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of heavy equipment, vehicle, or industrial machinery systems (depending on workshop nature), and routine/emergency maintenance procedures.
- Managerial Skills: High proficiency in planning, organizing, budget management, quality control, and problem-solving.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate and lead a team, coupled with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with applicable safety and environmental regulations in the State of Kuwait.
