Workshop Manager - Wisdom Transport and Trading (Doha, Qatar)

Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Workshop Manager will hold a vital leadership position, being directly responsible for overseeing all maintenance, repair, and service activities within the workshop. Core responsibilities include:

• Leadership and Supervision: Leading a team of workshop technicians and supervisors, assigning tasks, and ensuring a safe and productive work environment. This includes the ongoing training and development of team members.
• Operations Management: Effectively planning and scheduling all periodic maintenance and emergency repairs for the company's fleet of trucks, vehicles, and specialized equipment to minimize downtime.
• Quality and Cost Control: Ensuring all work is carried out to the highest quality standards and technical specifications. Monitoring the workshop's operational budget, controlling costs for spare parts and consumables, and seeking opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensuring the workshop's full compliance with local Qatari safety regulations, company protocols, and Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) standards. Maintaining accurate records of maintenance and inspections.
• Inventory Management: Overseeing the inventory system for spare parts and tools, ensuring the timely availability of necessary materials, and preventing overstocking or shortages.
• Communication and Reporting: Providing regular reports to senior management on workshop performance, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), budget status, and any challenges or requirements.

Required Qualifications and Experience

To be a successful candidate for this leadership role, you should meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or a high-level technical diploma with extensive experience. Professional certifications in vehicle management or safety will be a strong added advantage.
• Work Experience: Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in managing vehicle or truck maintenance workshops, with proven experience in leading and supervising a technical team. Experience in the transport or logistics sector is highly preferred.
• Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of heavy and light vehicle systems (mechanics, electrical, hydraulics). Proficiency in using Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) and office software like MS Office.
• Soft Skills: Strong leadership and managerial skills with the ability to motivate a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written). Ability to solve complex problems and make decisions under pressure. Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Other Requirements: Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is essential. Knowledge of Arabic will be an additional advantage. Candidates residing in Qatar must have a valid and transferable residence permit.
