
Established in 2004, Al Ain University (AAU) first welcome students in 2005, opening a second campus in Abu Dhabi in 2008. The university offers 17 undergraduate programmes across six colleges (engineering, pharmacy, law, education, humanities and social sciences, business and communication and media) and eight master’s programmes, as well as a professional diploma in teaching. The College of Engineering is accredited by the US-based Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), and the university’s Bachelor of Pharmacy programme was the first in the UAE to be granted International Certification by the prestigious Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) in the US. Similarly, the university’s Bachelor of Law programme received accreditation from the Supreme Council for Evaluation, Research and Higher Education (HCERES) in France and, the Bachelor of Mass Communication and media is accredited by AQAS. AAU has two campuses, one in Al Ain and another in Abu Dhabi. The Engineering, Pharmacy and Business colleges offer all programmes in English, whereas other use English to teach some programmes, some in Arabic, and for some both English and Arabic are used.
