Overview

El Colegio de México specializes in teaching and research in the humanities and social sciences. This focus is reflected in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018, which feature the institution in two subject rankings: modern languages and sociology. Established in 1940, the college is located in Mexico City and is home to a relatively small student population of under 500. 83.5 percent of these students are from Mexico, with the rest choosing to study here from abroad.The college’s library is one of the largest academic libraries in Mexico and contains books of particular interest to anyone studying the social sciences and humanities in Latin America. The library itself takes up 30 percent of the college’s total building space.
