Mapúa University

Overview

Mapúa University, formerly known as Mapúa Institute of Technology, envisions itself to be among the best universities in the world. Since its founding on January 25, 1925, Mapúa unceasingly fosters its tradition of excellence in engineering, architecture, information technology, business, media studies, communication, psychology and education. To sustain its efforts in pursuing its vision, Mapúa has strategized to become a digital, research-driven, outcomes-based, and international domain (DROID).  In its relentless pursuit of excellence, Mapúa has subjected itself to local and international accreditations and certifications. To date, Mapúa has accreditation from ABET’s Engineering Accreditation Commission for 11engineering programs and from its Computing Accreditation Commission for three(3) computing programs. It has obtained the highest accreditation from the Philippine Technological Council Accreditation and Certification Board for Engineering and Technology Engineering Accreditation Commission (ACBET-EAC) for its chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, environmental and sanitary engineering, industrial engineering, and mechanical engineering programs. Moreover, the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has recognized Mapua’s chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, environmental and sanitary engineering, mechanical engineering, and information technology as centers of excellence (COE), and the industrial engineering program as a center of development (COD), the most number among all Philippine engineering schools. On May 18, 2017, the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) granted the university status to Mapúa pursuant to Memorandum Order No. 46, Series of 2012, “Policy-Standard to Enhance Quality Assurance (QA) in Philippine Higher Education through an Outcomes-based and Typology-based QA.”  After attaining the university status, Mapúa was awarded with an overall rating of four stars by the Quacquerelli Symonds (QS) Stars. It also obtained ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certifications.
