Overview

Universitas Syiah Kuala (recognizably abbreviated as USK) is one the oldest and largest public universities in Indonesia. The university was established in 1961 and it has been developing into one of the best Indonesian universities. It is located in Banda Aceh, Aceh Province, the northern end of Sumatra Island. Although USK affected by the 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami, the development of USK has been accelerated through strong collaborations and partnerships with international organizations and donors with a fully support from the Indonesia government. USK has gained Accreditation Excellent from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) and internationally recognizable (9th position from all Indonesian Universities in Webometrics). USK has tighten its connection with the prominent universities in the world through research and academic collaboration and mobility program. It has been well known as an international research university especially in Disaster management field. With 12 faculties, USK offers various program studies from undergraduate, master and doctoral programs. Most of the program studies have been ‘A’ accredited by the BAN-PT.
