Friedrich Ebert Stiftung makes available scholarships to both Germans and overseas international students who wish to undertake Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. studies in German universities or technical colleges. Studies could be in any subject. The Foundation supports young talents who want to advance their personal development and be among the best in their field. The Foundation is looking for individuals committed to socio-political goals.
About Friedrich Ebert Stiftung:
The Friedrich Ebert Foundation (German: Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung e.V.; Abbreviation: FES) is a German political party foundation associated with the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), yet independent of it. Established in 1925 as the political legacy of Friedrich Ebert, Germany's first democratically elected President, it is the largest and oldest of the German party-associated foundations. It is headquartered in Bonn and Berlin and has offices and projects in over 100 countries. It is Germany's oldest organization to promote democracy, political education, and promote students of outstanding intellectual abilities and personality.
Funding:
Scholars receive up to €744 per month. In addition, there is a monthly flat-rate study fee of €300 euros, which all scholars can freely use. Depending on the applicant’s situation, scholars may also receive a contribution to health insurance of up to €71 and long-term care insurance of up to €15 per month. Scholars with children can receive a family allowance of €155 euros per month. The scholarship does not have to be repaid.
Requirments
What you need before you apply
- for basic funding :
- Confirmation of a place to study or a certificate of enrollment at a state or state-recognized German (technical) university for the course for which you want to be funded
- Foreign applicants must also provide evidence of sufficient German language skills
- First-year students (Germans and foreign students with education) apply before or at the beginning of the first semester and need two expert opinions from teachers for the further application process
- for doctoral funding :
- Unconditional notification of admission to the doctoral scholarship
- Foreign applicants must also provide evidence of sufficient German language skills
