Asset Performance Senior Engineer (Switchgear) - Oman Investment Authority
The Oman Investment Authority (OIA) is inviting applications for the position of Asset Performance Senior Engineer specializing in Switchgear. This role presents a significant opportunity for experienced engineers to join one of the Sultanate's foremost investment entities and contribute to the management and development of critical energy infrastructure.
Job Description
The Senior Engineer will be responsible for managing and enhancing the performance of high-voltage switchgear assets, a vital component in power transmission and distribution networks. The role will focus on ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and operational safety of these strategic assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Asset Performance Management: Develop and implement lifecycle management strategies for switchgear assets to maximize their value and minimize total cost of ownership.
- Monitoring & Evaluation: Monitor the performance of existing assets, analyze operational data, and define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess health and efficiency.
- Proactive Maintenance: Design and review preventive and predictive maintenance plans to ensure operational continuity and prevent unplanned failures.
- Risk Analysis: Conduct technical and operational risk assessments related to switchgear assets and develop mitigation plans.
- Continuous Improvement: Propose and implement initiatives to improve operational reliability, energy efficiency, and extend asset lifespan.
- Reporting & Recommendations: Prepare detailed technical reports and provide strategic recommendations to senior management regarding asset replacement or upgrades.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all assets and practices comply with international and local safety and quality standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, Omani regulations).
Requirements and Qualifications
Educational Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field. A Master's degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., in asset management) will be a strong advantage.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in electrical asset management, with a strong focus on medium and high-voltage switchgear.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing Asset Lifecycle Management strategies.
- In-depth knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs and diagnostic techniques for electrical equipment.
- Experience in data analysis and the use of Asset Management software (EAM/CMMS).
- Experience within the power utilities, oil & gas, or large industrial sectors is highly preferred.
Personal & Professional Skills:
- Strong analytical and investigative skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with all management levels and technical staff.
- Leadership skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Solid understanding of local and international technical standards and regulations.
- Results-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
