Camp Assistant Manager Job in the United Arab Emirates

Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The Camp Assistant Manager will report to the Camp Manager and be primarily responsible for assisting in the oversight of all daily camp operations to ensure efficient and high-quality service delivery. The key responsibilities associated with this role are expected to include:
- Operational Supervision: Assist in managing and coordinating daily activities within the camp, including accommodation unit allocation, monitoring facility conditions, and ensuring all essential utilities (such as power, water, communications) are consistently available.
- Team Management: Assist in leading and directing the camp support staff, which may include maintenance, housekeeping, security, and logistics personnel. This involves participating in training and the daily supervision of staff performance.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure all camp operations and facilities comply with relevant local regulations and company policies, with a particular focus on Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards. This includes conducting regular inspections and ensuring safety equipment readiness.
- Resident Services: Act as a primary point of contact for issues and inquiries raised by camp residents, working to resolve them effectively and promptly to ensure their satisfaction and comfort.
- Logistics and Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring inventory levels for consumables and supplies, ensuring adequate stock is maintained. This may involve coordinating with suppliers for procurement.
- Reporting and Administration: Prepare periodic reports on camp status, inventory, incidents, and any other operational issues for the Camp Manager.
- Emergency Preparedness: Assist in implementing emergency and evacuation plans when required, ensuring all team members and residents are familiar with the procedures.
Required Qualifications and Skills
For a successful application, the ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
- Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of prior practical experience in a similar role (Assistant Manager, Facilities Supervisor, Camp Management) within sectors such as Oil & Gas, Construction, Logistics, or Facilities Management.
- Managerial Skills: Proven ability to assist in managing and motivating teams, coupled with strong organizational and planning skills.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) in English; Arabic is a strong advantage. Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Technical Knowledge: A solid understanding of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) principles and safety procedures in a communal living setting.
- Problem-Solving Ability: A solutions-oriented approach, with the capacity to work under pressure and make quick, practical decisions when necessary.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work in locations that may be remote from major cities, and sometimes according to flexible hours or shift patterns as required by operational needs.
