Chief Operating Officer at Oman Investment Authority

The Authority manages a diversified investment portfolio across sectors and assets, both locally and internationally.
Job Description and Responsibilities
The Chief Operating Officer will hold a pivotal position within the top executive team and will be primarily responsible for:
- Operational Leadership: Overseeing the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the Authority to ensure efficiency and effectiveness across all departments.
- Strategic Planning & Development: Working closely with the CEO and board members to formulate and execute the Authority's strategic and operational plans.
- Process Optimization: Reviewing, developing, and enhancing operational policies, procedures, and systems to improve productivity, compliance, and best practices.
- Performance Management: Establishing frameworks to measure the performance of various operations and ensuring operational and financial objectives are met.
- Leadership & Management: Directing and leading senior and middle management teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Operational Risk Management: Identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks facing the Authority's activities.
- Cross-Departmental Coordination: Ensuring effective integration and coordination between various departments such as Investment, Finance, IT, Legal, and HR.
Required Qualifications and Experience
To be a qualified candidate for this leadership role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field. A Master's degree (e.g., MBA) or advanced professional certifications (e.g., CFA) are a significant advantage.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 15 years of progressive professional experience, with a strong focus on senior management and operations within major financial institutions, investment funds, or top-tier management consulting. Experience in a sovereign wealth fund environment or large-scale asset management is a key competitive advantage.
- Leadership Skills: A proven track record of successfully leading large, multidisciplinary teams, making complex strategic decisions, and managing organizational change.
- Financial & Investment Acumen: Deep understanding of financial markets, investment instruments, portfolio management, and corporate governance.
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional strategic analysis, complex problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making abilities.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels, with the ability to represent the institution professionally to local and international stakeholders.
- Language: Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential. Proficiency in Arabic is a strong additional advantage.
