Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The appointed Chiller Technician will be entrusted with a range of vital technical tasks focused on ensuring the optimal and reliable operation of chiller systems. Core responsibilities include:
- Performing routine preventive maintenance on various chiller systems (centrifugal, absorption, screw).
- Diagnosing operational failures and malfunctions in refrigeration systems and accurately identifying their root causes.
- Carrying out repair and replacement of faulty components, including compressors, heat exchangers, valves, and control devices.
- Assisting in the installation of new chiller systems according to technical specifications and engineering drawings.
- Inspecting and testing system performance post-repair or maintenance to ensure required efficiency standards are met.
- Reading and understanding electrical and hydraulic schematics for refrigeration systems.
- Handling refrigerants in compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations and procedures.
- Preparing technical reports on equipment status and maintenance/repair work performed.
- Working collaboratively with engineers and other technicians to ensure tasks are completed within the specified timeframe.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- A certificate or diploma in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Mechanics, or a related technical field.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in maintaining and repairing central chiller systems.
- Deep practical knowledge of chiller system components and the refrigeration cycle.
- Proficiency in using refrigeration-specific measurement tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Knowledge of occupational safety procedures when working on mechanical and electrical systems.
- A certified refrigerant handling license (such as EPA 608 certification or its equivalent) is a significant advantage.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergency maintenance calls.
- Physical fitness to perform tasks that require manual labor and mobility between job sites.
- Proficiency in English for reading and comprehension is an advantage.
