Commissioning Superintendent Job in Qatar
A leading client operating in the industrial projects and energy sector, through the global recruitment firm Brunel, is seeking to fill the position of Commissioning Superintendent in Doha, Qatar. Job Description and Responsibilities
The Commissioning Superintendent will bear full responsibility for planning and supervising all activities related to commissioning and handing over the project to the client or the permanent operations team. They will work within a dynamic team in a complex project environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and coordinating all commissioning and handover operations for the assigned project or package.
- Developing and reviewing detailed commissioning plans, activity schedules, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Directly supervising commissioning teams, technicians, and contractors during pre-commissioning and initial start-up phases.
- Ensuring all commissioning work is executed in accordance with technical specifications, quality standards, and the highest levels of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements.
- Close coordination with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) teams to ensure all prerequisites for start-up operations are completed.
- Managing the System Handover process from construction to operations, including the review and acceptance of technical documentation.
- Identifying and resolving technical issues that may arise during testing and commissioning activities.
- Preparing daily and weekly progress reports on commissioning activities, highlighting any challenges or delays.
- Ensuring adequate training of the permanent operations team on the project systems.
Qualifications and Requirements

- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or any related engineering discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in project commissioning and handover, with proven experience in a supervisory or team lead role. Experience in the oil & gas, energy, or major industrial projects sector is essential.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of project commissioning stages, including hydrostatic testing, cold and hot commissioning, and start-up.
- Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead and motivate teams in a multicultural, high-pressure work environment.
- Safety Skills: A steadfast commitment to safety culture, with comprehensive knowledge of site safety standards and procedures (e.g., OSHA, company standards).
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adhere to tight schedules.
- Language: Excellent written and spoken English proficiency. Knowledge of Arabic is a distinct advantage.
