Compliance Officer at Starlink WLL - Doha, Qatar
Starlink WLL is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join its team in Doha, Qatar, for the position of Compliance Officer. Job Overview
The Compliance Officer will be integrated into the company's Governance and Compliance department. The primary mandate is to oversee, monitor, and assess the company's adherence to all applicable local Qatari laws, internal policies, and relevant international standards. This role is critical for safeguarding the company's reputation and minimizing operational and legal risks.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Compliance Monitoring: Conduct ongoing compliance monitoring and reviews to ensure all business units operate in accordance with Qatari regulations (e.g., labor law, anti-money laundering, data protection) and internal codes of conduct.
- Policy Development: Assist in drafting, updating, and implementing internal compliance policies and procedures to reflect changes in the regulatory landscape.
- Risk Assessment & Management: Perform periodic compliance risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to address identified gaps.
- Training & Awareness: Develop and deliver compliance training programs to enhance employee awareness and understanding of regulatory obligations.
- Reporting: Prepare regular compliance status reports for senior management, highlighting areas of concern, potential risks, and the effectiveness of the compliance program.
- Regulatory Liaison: Act as a point of contact for relevant Qatari regulatory bodies, ensuring timely submission of required reports and facilitating communication as needed.
- Internal Investigations: Participate in internal investigations related to potential violations of laws, regulations, or company policies.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications in compliance (e.g., CAMS, ICA) are a strong advantage.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience in a compliance, risk management, internal audit, or legal role within the corporate sector in the GCC region. Prior experience in Qatar is highly preferred.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the Qatari legal and regulatory environment. A solid understanding of international compliance best practices is essential.
- Personal Skills:
- Strong analytical and investigative skills.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) in English. Proficiency in Arabic is a significant asset.
- High degree of integrity, professionalism, and the ability to handle confidential information.
- Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
