Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The appointed Contract Planner will be integrated into a specialized department managing the company's contractual operations. The core responsibilities of this position include:
- Planning and Managing Contract Lifecycle: Overseeing the entire contracting process, from initial preparation and negotiation, through drafting contract terms, to final execution and review phases.
- Risk Analysis and Contracting: Identifying and assessing potential risks associated with contractual terms, and proposing mitigation mechanisms to safeguard the company's interests.
- Inter-Departmental Coordination: Acting as a liaison between various internal departments (such as Legal, Projects, Procurement, and Finance) to ensure all contractual terms are aligned with internal policies and strategic objectives.
- Document Review and Drafting: Reviewing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), contract drafts, addendums, and amendments to ensure their accuracy and comprehensiveness.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensuring all contracts comply with local laws and regulations in the State of Qatar, as well as relevant international standards.
- Reporting: Developing and preparing periodic reports on contract portfolio status, supplier/contractor performance, and any deviations from agreed terms.
- Filing and Records Management: Maintaining an organized and secure archiving system for all relevant documents and contracts for easy future reference.
Qualifications and Essential Requirements
To be eligible for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law, Engineering, or any field related to contract management. Advanced certifications in contract management will be a distinct advantage.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in contract planning or management, preferably within the trading, contracting, or energy and infrastructure sectors.
- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of contracting principles and procedures, with a solid understanding of the legal and financial aspects of contracts. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Word) and contract management software.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills (both verbal and written). Ability to work under pressure and handle challenges. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Language: Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential. Knowledge of the Arabic language is a significant advantage for dealing with the local market and government entities in Qatar.
