Job Overview

The Plant Inspector will be responsible for performing critical inspection and examination activities within industrial facilities, particularly in the oil & gas and energy sectors. This role is essential for ensuring compliance with the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational reliability, thereby protecting assets, the environment, and personnel.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Based on the standard scope of such roles in industrial inspection, the expected responsibilities include:

  • Conducting periodic and routine inspections of plant static equipment such as pressure vessels, storage tanks, boilers, and piping systems.
  • Performing Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) using various techniques and monitoring for corrosion and wall thickness.
  • Reviewing and examining technical documentation, including material certificates, weld records, and design drawings.
  • Preparing detailed and clear inspection reports, outlining findings, observations, and any non-conformances to specifications or standards.
  • Liaising with operations teams, contractors, and engineers to provide technical recommendations and supervise repair work.
  • Ensuring compliance with local and international safety standards, such as API, ASME, and Qatari regulations.
  • Participating in new equipment handover processes and verifying compliance with required specifications.

Required Qualifications and Skills

To qualify for this opportunity, candidates should possess the following:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field. Significant proven experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in plant and static equipment inspection, preferably within the oil & gas or heavy industry sectors.
  • Recognized professional inspection certifications are highly advantageous, such as API 510 (Pressure Vessel Inspector), API 570 (Piping Inspector), or API 653 (Tank Inspector).
  • Practical knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques and equipment.
  • Strong proficiency in English, both written and spoken, as it is the primary language of work.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • Candidates must have a valid residency permit in Qatar or be willing to relocate.
