Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The newly appointed Crewing Officer will be integrated into the company's human resources and marine operations team, responsible for a range of vital tasks supporting fleet operations and partners. The core responsibilities of this position include:

• Crew Management Operations: Planning, coordinating, and recruiting seafaring crews for the company's managed or associated vessels, including ship officers and ratings.
• Recruitment and Selection: Overseeing the full recruitment cycle, from posting job advertisements, screening CVs, conducting initial interviews, and selecting qualified candidates based on technical requirements and international standards (e.g., STCW).
• Training and Development: Ensuring all crew members possess the required and valid training certificates and qualifications. Coordinating ongoing training programs to enhance skills and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Compliance and Regulations: Ensuring all crewing and recruitment activities comply with local and international laws, maritime safety regulations, and immigration requirements for various ports.
• Contract and Documentation Management: Preparing and renewing seafarer employment agreements (SEAs), and managing all crew-related documentation (certificates of competency, passports, work visas, medical examinations).
• Logistical Support: Coordinating crew travel to and from vessels, including flight bookings, ground transportation, and accommodation arrangements when necessary.
• Onboard Support: Acting as a primary point of contact for crew during their contract period, addressing any inquiries or issues that may arise, and collaborating with operations and safety departments.
• Record Keeping: Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date database of all crew information, employment records, and performance-related reports.

Required Qualifications and Skills

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

• Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Maritime Studies, Human Resources, or a related field. Extensive practical experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
• Work Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role (as a Crewing Officer or Crew Manager) with a shipping company, maritime agency, or ship management company. Experience in the Gulf or UAE market is a significant advantage.
• Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of international maritime regulations and standards (e.g., STCW, MLC 2006), immigration procedures, and seafarer employment contract systems.
• Personal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities. High accuracy and attention to detail in documentation handling.
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). Experience with specialized crewing management software will be an added advantage.
