Geochem Arabia is currently seeking qualified and experienced Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Consultants to join their expert teams in Jubail Industrial City, Saudi Arabia. This position represents a significant opportunity for environmental professionals to contribute to major industrial projects within one of the world's largest industrial complexes.
Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The appointed EIA Consultant will be integrated into the company's technical consulting division, responsible for leading and managing Environmental Impact Assessment processes for new and existing projects. Core responsibilities include:
- Managing and Executing EIA Studies: Leading technical teams in preparing comprehensive and detailed Environmental Impact Assessment studies for industrial and development projects, ensuring adherence to the highest international and local standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Guaranteeing that all studies and projects comply with Saudi Arabian environmental regulations issued by the Presidency of Meteorology and Environmental Protection (PME) and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Collecting and analyzing environmental data related to air, water, soil, noise, and biodiversity. Preparing clear, accurate, and professional technical reports that present findings, recommendations, and required mitigation measures.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Acting as the primary liaison between the company, its clients, government authorities, and other consultancies to facilitate the process of obtaining necessary environmental approvals and permits.
- Contributing to Environmental Planning: Providing technical advice during project planning phases to integrate environmental considerations from the outset, helping to identify potential risks and challenges early.
- Reviewing Technical Documentation: Reviewing and auditing Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), monitoring plans, and periodic reports to ensure their effectiveness and accuracy.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Geology, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree or advanced professional certifications in environmental assessment is highly preferred.
- Work Experience: A proven track record of 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in preparing and executing Environmental Impact Assessment studies. Experience within the industrial, oil & gas, or energy sectors in the Gulf region, particularly in Saudi Arabia, is a significant advantage.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth and demonstrated knowledge of Saudi Arabian environmental legislation, regulations, and the procedures for obtaining licenses and approvals from the relevant authorities.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in data analysis and graphical software (e.g., Excel, SPSS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Ability to read engineering drawings and a solid understanding of industrial processes.
- Personal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English. Strong leadership abilities, capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines. Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
