Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The Overhead Line (OHL) Engineer will be an integral part of the engineering team, contributing to ensuring quality, safety, and compliance in electric power transmission and distribution line projects. The key responsibilities for this role are expected to include:

• Design & Engineering: Contributing to the design and review of Overhead Line (OHL) layouts for high and medium-voltage projects.
• Technical Studies: Conducting and analyzing technical studies related to overhead lines, such as sag-tension analysis, load analysis, and wind loading studies.
• Specification Development: Preparing and reviewing technical specifications and Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents for OHL equipment and components (towers, conductors, insulators, etc.).
• Inspection & Quality Control: Overseeing the manufacturing and field installation processes of overhead line components, ensuring compliance with international (e.g., IEC, IEEE) and local standards.
• Project Support: Providing technical support across various project phases (planning, execution, delivery), and coordinating with contractors, clients, and internal stakeholders.
• Reporting & Documentation: Preparing detailed technical reports, inspection certificates, and project handover documents.
• Compliance Assurance: Ensuring full compliance with Bureau Veritas's stringent safety and quality standards, as well as local regulatory body regulations such as the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).

Qualifications & Essential Requirements

To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field from an accredited university.
• Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in Overhead Line (OHL) engineering and design for electric power transmission and distribution.
• Technical Knowledge:
  • In-depth knowledge of overhead line design principles, equipment selection, and materials.
  • Proficiency in using specialized engineering design and analysis software for this field (e.g., PLS-CADD, or similar).
  • Thorough understanding of international (IEC, IEEE, BS) and local standards for electrical projects.
• Professional Certifications: Professional certifications such as "Professional Engineer" (PE) or similar are a strong advantage.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), ability to work in a team and multicultural environment, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills.
• Language: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential. Knowledge of Arabic is an additional advantage.
