Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The Galvanizing Engineer will be responsible for the technical and operational oversight of hot-dip galvanizing or electrogalvanizing processes. These are critical procedures for protecting metal structures and products from corrosion and rust in industrial areas and harsh environments. Core responsibilities include:
- Production Process Supervision: Direct management of the galvanizing line, ensuring operations run according to defined technical standards and specifications.
- Quality Control and Assurance: Conducting periodic inspections of raw materials (iron/steel), monitoring bath temperatures and zinc solution compositions, and measuring coating thickness to ensure the final product complies with local and international standards (such as ASTM or ISO specifications).
- Maintenance and Safety: Developing preventive maintenance plans for the line, furnaces, and auxiliary equipment, and ensuring all operational procedures adhere to high occupational health and safety standards.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Analyzing any coating defects (e.g., unevenness, peeling) to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
- Training and Supervision: Training and guiding technicians and operators on correct procedures and safe working techniques.
- Documentation and Reporting: Preparing daily and weekly technical reports on production output, quality metrics, material consumption, and any incidents or breakdowns.
Qualifications and Requirements
To qualify for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in industrial galvanizing, with in-depth knowledge of the process stages (cleaning, pickling, fluxing, dipping, cooling).
- Technical Knowledge:
- Comprehensive understanding of metal properties and zinc alloys.
- Strong grasp of quality control and inspection standards specific to galvanizing.
- Ability to read engineering blueprints and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) systems in industrial settings.
- Personal Skills: Strong leadership and supervisory skills, problem-solving ability under pressure, high attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
- Preference: Preference will be given to candidates holding professional certifications in galvanizing or quality management, and those with prior experience in the Kuwaiti or Gulf market.
