Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The General Practitioner will be responsible for providing integrated and specialized primary medical care to elderly patients. He/She will work as part of a multidisciplinary team aimed at enhancing the quality of life and health outcomes for this demographic. Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting thorough medical examinations and accurate diagnosis of common and complex health conditions in geriatric patients.
• Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans that address the specific needs of the elderly, including the management of polypharmacy.
• Focusing on preventive care and the management of prevalent chronic diseases in this age group, such as diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, and dementia.
• Collaborating closely with other specialists including geriatricians, physiotherapists, and nutritionists to provide holistic patient care.
• Providing counseling and support to patients and their families regarding long-term care planning, home safety, and healthy lifestyle adjustments.

Qualifications & Requirements

To be eligible for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: An MBBS degree or its equivalent from a recognized university.
• Licensing: Must possess a valid medical practice license from the Omani Ministry of Health, or be eligible to obtain one. Prior GCC licensing or experience will be a distinct advantage.
• Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in general practice, with demonstrated experience and a clear interest in Geriatric Care. Experience in family medicine clinics or related inpatient settings is highly desirable.
• Personal Skills: High levels of empathy, patience, and excellent communication skills to interact effectively with elderly patients and their families. Ability to work in a team and a strong commitment to medical ethics.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
