Head of Business Continuity - QatarEnergy, Doha

QatarEnergy, a global energy giant, is seeking to hire a vital leadership position: Head of Business Continuity at its headquarters in Doha, Qatar. Job and Company Overview

QatarEnergy is the state-owned energy corporation of Qatar and ranks among the world's largest producers and exporters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and energy. The company bears the responsibility of ensuring the continuity of global energy supplies, making the Business Continuity role central and fundamental to its mission.

The Head of Business Continuity will hold a strategic position within the company's organizational structure, responsible for leading, developing, and managing the enterprise-wide Business Continuity program. This role will focus on protecting QatarEnergy's vital operations from potential disruptions, whether caused by natural events, technological failures, operational incidents, or global crises.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

The successful candidate will be entrusted with a range of critical responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive Business Continuity vision and strategy aligned with QatarEnergy's strategic objectives and risk landscape.
  • Program Development: Lead the design, build, and management of a robust, integrated Business Continuity program encompassing Incident Response, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity Plans.
  • Risk Management: Work closely with Risk Management and various operational units to identify, assess, and mitigate potential threats that could disrupt critical business processes.
  • Testing & Training: Lead and coordinate regular simulation exercises and tests of Business Continuity plans to ensure their effectiveness and team readiness. Design and implement awareness and training programs for employees at all levels.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure the Business Continuity program complies with recognized international standards (e.g., ISO 22301) and any relevant local or global regulatory requirements.
  • Coordination & Reporting: Act as the central Business Continuity liaison within the company, coordinating with all departments (Operations, IT, Communications, Security, etc.). Prepare regular reports for senior management on readiness status and risks.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously review and update Business Continuity plans and strategies based on lessons learned, changes in the business environment, and technological advancements.

Required Qualifications and Experience

To be a qualified candidate for this leadership role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Risk Management, Engineering, or Computer Science. A Master's degree or advanced professional certifications is a significant advantage.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in Business Continuity Management, Operational Risk Management, or Crisis Management, with a strong focus on complex, critical operational environments. Experience in the Oil & Gas, Energy, or heavy industries is a highly desirable and exceptional advantage.
  • Professional Certifications: Possession of recognized Business Continuity certifications such as CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional) or MBCI (Member of the Business Continuity Institute) or equivalent.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence executive stakeholders, and drive organizational change.
  • Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical skills to understand complex processes, identify vulnerabilities, and develop practical solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English, with the ability to present complex reports clearly to senior management.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of international standards (ISO 22301) and best practices in Business Continuity and Crisis Management.
