Job Description and Responsibilities

The Head Chef will occupy a critical leadership position within the hotel's organizational structure, serving as the primary authority over all kitchen operations and culinary team management. The key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Leadership and Supervision: Leading the entire kitchen brigade (Chef de Partie, cooks, assistants), providing direction, delegating tasks, and ensuring the highest standards of professional discipline and teamwork.
  • Planning and Development: Designing and developing diverse food menus that meet the expectations of a varied guest demographic and align with the hotel's stature, while considering quality, cost, and seasonality.
  • Quality Control: Directly supervising all stages of food preparation and presentation, ensuring strict adherence to local and international quality, hygiene (HACCP), and food safety standards.
  • Cost Management: Contributing to kitchen budgeting, monitoring food inventory, and managing operational costs effectively to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
  • Training and Development: Training and developing the skills of the kitchen team, sharing knowledge, and fostering a culture of culinary excellence and innovation.
  • Communication and Coordination: Working closely with restaurant management, hotel management, and the procurement and stores departments to ensure smooth operations and meet the demands of events and functions.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

To be eligible for this leadership opportunity, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Certification and Experience: A degree or diploma in Culinary Arts or a related field. A minimum of 7 to 10 years of practical experience in hotel culinary operations, with at least 3 years in a similar leadership role (Head Chef or Sous Chef) within a 5-star hotel or high-end restaurant.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a large, diverse team, with excellent communication and delegation skills.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep expertise in international cuisines (Continental, Middle Eastern, Asian) and diverse cooking techniques. Strong familiarity with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Managerial Skills: Experience in managing kitchen budgets, cost control, and menu planning.
  • Personal Attributes: Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, commitment to quality and precision, and creativity in food presentation.
  • Language: Proficiency in English for communication is essential. Knowledge of the Arabic language is a significant advantage.
