Job Overview

The successful technician will be stationed at an operational site, primarily responsible for ensuring the accurate and reliable operation of measurement and control instrumentation used in the company's industrial processes or facilities. This critical role is pivotal in maintaining operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with technical standards.

Key Expected Responsibilities and Duties

Based on the standard nature of such a role, the anticipated responsibilities include:

  • Routine and Emergency Maintenance: Performing inspection, preventive maintenance, and urgent repairs on a wide array of instruments such as pressure gauges, flow meters, temperature gauges, analyzers, control valves, and transmitters.
  • Calibration and Adjustment: Executing precise calibration procedures for instruments to ensure the accuracy of their readings and alignment with reference specifications and international standards.
  • Troubleshooting and Diagnosis: Identifying the root causes of malfunctions in measurement and control loops using technical drawings (P&IDs), electronic testing equipment, and logical troubleshooting skills.
  • Installation and Commissioning: Assisting in the installation, testing, and commissioning of new instruments into existing systems.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Accurately recording all maintenance, repair, and calibration work in reports and technical logs, and maintaining an updated database of instrument status.
  • Safety Compliance: Strictly adhering to all applicable occupational health, safety, and environmental protocols at the worksite and participating in safety drills.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

To be a suitable candidate for this opportunity, you are expected to meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A diploma or technical certificate (minimum) in a field such as: Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Work Experience: Proven hands-on experience of at least 3 to 5 years in a similar role (Instrument Technician) within an industrial environment, such as the Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Power, Water, or Manufacturing sectors.
  • Technical Skills: Deep practical knowledge of the working principles of analog and digital control and measurement instruments. Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) is a significant advantage.
  • Personal Skills: Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Accuracy and attention to detail. Problem-solving ability under pressure.
  • Professional Certifications: Any recognized training certificates in safety (e.g., H2S, Fire Safety) or specific calibration techniques will be highly regarded.
  • Other Requirements: Applicants must have a valid residency permit in Qatar or be ready to relocate. Proficiency in English for reading and writing (the primary work language) is required, and knowledge of Arabic is an additional advantage.
