Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The Instrument Technician will be responsible for a range of critical technical tasks ensuring the safe and efficient operation of industrial facilities. Core responsibilities include:

  • Routine & Emergency Maintenance: Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on measurement and control systems and instruments, including Pressure, Temperature, Flow, and Level Transmitters.
  • Calibration & Adjustment: Calibrating various measurement instruments and devices according to international standards and company specifications to ensure accuracy of readings and control.
  • Inspection & Troubleshooting: Diagnosing faults in electrical, electronic, and pneumatic circuits of instrument systems, using specialized measuring tools to identify malfunctions.
  • Installation & Commissioning: Assisting in the installation of new instruments, testing them, and ensuring they are ready for operation (Commissioning).
  • Safety & Compliance: Strict adherence to all applicable Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) procedures on-site, ensuring all work is performed in accordance with regulations and standards.
  • Documentation: Preparing maintenance reports, calibration reports, and accurately recording all activities in designated logs.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

To qualify for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A diploma or certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, or any closely related technical field.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in instrument maintenance and calibration, preferably within sectors such as Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Power Plants, or Manufacturing.
  • Technical Skills: Deep practical knowledge of various control and measurement instruments (valve actuators, transmitters, controllers). Proficiency in reading Electrical, Piping, and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Personal Skills: Ability to work effectively within a team, strong attention to detail and accuracy, problem-solving skills under pressure, and a strict commitment to safety standards.
  • Professional Certifications: Professional safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) or specialized training certificates in instrument systems are a strong added advantage.

Work Location & Sector

The work sites will be across various industrial facilities within the Sultanate of Oman. Instrument Technicians typically work in operational sites which may include plants, processing stations, or production platforms, requiring readiness to work in such environments, sometimes on a shift rotation basis.
