Job Description

The Junior Underwriter will be placed within the company's underwriting or risk management department. The role will be focused on providing operational and analytical support to the underwriting team, contributing to the evaluation of insurance or assistance product applications. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Application Analysis: Assisting senior underwriters in reviewing and assessing new client or partner applications according to set policies and procedures.
  • Data Gathering: Helping to collect necessary financial or personal information and documentation for accurate risk assessment.
  • Administrative Support: Data entry, maintaining accurate records of applications and decisions in the company's databases.
  • Basic Liaison: Coordinating internally with sales or customer service departments to obtain additional information or clarifications.
  • Reporting: Assisting in the preparation of preliminary reports and memos on underwriting submissions for review by supervisors.
  • Compliance: Ensuring all tasks are performed in accordance with local regulatory requirements in Bahrain and the company's internal policies.
  • Learning & Development: Actively participating in training programs to develop a deeper understanding of company products, insurance/services markets, and risk management principles.

Requirements & Qualifications

To qualify for this opportunity, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Statistics. Graduates from other disciplines with strong analytical aptitude may be considered.
  • Experience: This is an entry-level position. Internship experience (co-op or summer) within the insurance, financial services, banking, or consulting sector is highly preferred. Strong emphasis will be placed on trainability and eagerness to learn.
  • Personal Skills:
    • Analytical skills and strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to work accurately with numbers and data.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
    • Time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel and Word). Prior knowledge of database management systems or industry-specific financial software is a plus.
