Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The appointed Lathe Machine Operator will work in a professional industrial environment, primarily responsible for operating and maintaining turning machines (lathes). The core duties and responsibilities include:

• Safely and efficiently operating various types of lathe machines (e.g., conventional lathes, CNC lathes) according to specified standards.
• Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to execute precise turning operations.
• Setting up and preparing the machine, including correctly installing and securing cutting tools and workpieces.
• Performing various turning operations such as facing, cutting, threading, and shaping metals to achieve required dimensions and surface finishes.
• Monitoring product quality during operation using precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and other gauges.
• Performing basic routine maintenance on the machine, such as cleaning and lubrication, and reporting any malfunctions or technical issues to the direct supervisor.
• Strictly adhering to all applicable occupational health and safety procedures within the workshop to prevent accidents.
• Meeting required production targets while maintaining high-quality standards.

Job Requirements and Skills

To qualify for this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:

• Proven previous hands-on experience operating lathe machines. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in similar manufacturing environments.
• Practical knowledge of reading engineering drawings and using precision measuring tools.
• A solid understanding of industrial safety principles in mechanical workshops.
• Ability to work with high precision, attention to detail, and patience to produce high-quality components.
• Capability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently with minimal supervision.
• Physical fitness to stand for extended periods and handle materials and tools.
• Basic knowledge of English to facilitate understanding technical instructions is preferred but not a strict requirement.

Educational Qualifications

• A diploma in Mechanics, Production Engineering, or a related field from a recognized technical institute or community college.
• A high school certificate may be considered as an alternative if coupled with significant and proven practical experience in the same field.
