Job Description and Responsibilities

The Environment & Sustainability Manager will be the primary leader responsible for driving and implementing the company's strategy in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) areas. This leader will report to senior management and will be the linchpin in translating the company's sustainability commitment into tangible action plans and measurable outcomes.

Key expected responsibilities include:

• Strategy Development: Leading the process of formulating and implementing a comprehensive sustainability and environmental strategy aligned with the company's long-term goals, the UAE Vision 2030, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
• Compliance & Legislation: Ensuring all company operations and activities comply with relevant local and international environmental laws and regulations, and monitoring any legislative updates.
• Environmental Performance Management: Designing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to energy consumption, waste management, carbon emissions, and water usage, and working on their continuous improvement.
• Green Initiatives: Proposing and leading innovative projects and initiatives to enhance energy efficiency, transition towards renewable energy sources, and reduce the company's carbon footprint.
• Reporting & Transparency: Preparing periodic, quarterly, and annual reports on sustainability performance, including Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reports and ESG reports according to global standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
• Awareness & Culture Building: Organizing awareness campaigns and training for employees on environmental best practices, and embedding a culture of sustainability within the workplace.
• Risk Management: Identifying and assessing potential environmental risks associated with the company's activities, and developing mitigation and response plans.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Representing the company at sustainability forums and conferences, and building partnerships with government entities and environmental organizations.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this leadership role, you should meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Business Management with a focus on Sustainability, or any related field. A Master's degree is a significant advantage.
• Work Experience: A minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in sustainability or environmental management, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory position. Experience in the Gulf market, particularly the UAE, is a strong competitive advantage.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep knowledge of Environmental Management Systems (e.g., ISO 14001), sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI), carbon footprint calculation, and circular economy concepts.
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and communicate effectively with all levels of management.
• Personal Skills: Strong analytical and foresight skills, the ability to solve complex problems, and excellence in written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic.
