MEP Lead - Project Management Consultancy Job with Mace in Saudi Arabia
Mace, a globally renowned leader in project management and consultancy, is seeking an experienced professional to fill a key leadership position within their Project Management Consultancy team in Saudi Arabia. This role is for a seasoned engineer to take on the position of MEP Lead, responsible for leading and directing all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) aspects on major, strategic development projects within the Kingdom.
Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The MEP Lead will occupy a central role in ensuring the technical and operational success of the project. Core responsibilities will include:
- Technical Leadership & Consultancy: Providing expert consultancy and technical oversight for all MEP activities throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial design and feasibility stages, through implementation and construction, to final handover and commissioning.
- Design Management & Coordination: Reviewing and evaluating MEP drawings and designs submitted by contractors and consultants to ensure compliance with international best practices, client requirements, and local Saudi Arabian regulations. This also involves effective coordination with architectural and structural design teams to avoid clashes and ensure integration.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Developing and implementing quality control plans for MEP systems, ensuring full compliance with safety standards (e.g., NFPA), Saudi building codes, and any project-specific environmental requirements.
- Contractor & Vendor Management: Supervising the performance of MEP contractors and suppliers, reviewing their method statements and schedules, monitoring work progress on site, and resolving any technical or logistical issues.
- Budget & Schedule Management: Working closely with the Project Manager to monitor budgets allocated for MEP works, control costs, and ensure adherence to the overall project timeline.
- Reporting: Preparing detailed, regular technical reports on the progress of MEP works, highlighting potential risks, proposing solutions, and presenting them to project management and the client.
Qualifications and Essential Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this leadership opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from a recognized university. A Master's degree or advanced professional certifications (such as PMP, CEng, or equivalent) is a strong advantage.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in MEP systems, with a strong focus on the consultancy and project management side. Experience must include working on large-scale, complex projects such as high-rise towers, major commercial complexes, specialized hospitals, or infrastructure projects.
- Regional Experience: Proven hands-on experience working on projects within the Middle East, with deep knowledge of the working environment and regulatory requirements in Saudi Arabia. Previous experience on projects related to Saudi Vision 2030 is a significant plus.
- Technical Skills: Profound proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software such as Revit MEP. Comprehensive knowledge of international MEP standards and codes (ASHRAE, IEC, NEC) and the ability to apply them locally.
- Leadership & Personal Skills: Excellent leadership and multi-disciplinary team management abilities. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and make decisive decisions.
