Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The Optimization Engineer (Offshore) will be responsible for a range of critical tasks focused on enhancing efficiency, performance, and safety in offshore operations. Core responsibilities include:
- Process Analysis & Optimization: Conduct in-depth analyses of current offshore processes to identify weaknesses and opportunities for improvement in operational performance and technical efficiency.
- Optimization Strategy Development: Design and implement technical and engineering strategies and solutions to improve the productivity of offshore platforms and associated operations, while ensuring compliance with the highest safety and quality standards.
- Process Modeling & Simulation: Utilize advanced modeling and simulation tools to test various optimization scenarios and predict their impact before actual implementation.
- Performance Monitoring: Establish and manage Key Performance Indicator (KPI) systems to assess process effectiveness and measure the return on optimization investments.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with onshore and offshore teams from engineering, operations, maintenance, and safety departments to ensure the successful implementation of optimization initiatives.
- Reporting: Prepare detailed technical reports and deliver presentations to management on analysis findings, improvement proposals, and progress achieved.
- Innovation & Development: Stay abreast of the latest global technologies and best practices in offshore operations and propose recommendations for their adoption.
Requirements & Qualifications
To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Marine, Petroleum, or a related field). A Master's degree will be a distinct advantage.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in engineering or process optimization, with a strong focus on the offshore sector or the oil and gas industry. Experience with projects in Qatar or the Gulf region is a significant plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and engineering simulation software.
- In-depth knowledge of offshore platform systems, equipment, and processes.
- Solid understanding of marine safety principles and environmental regulations (e.g., HSE).
- Personal Skills: Excellent analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to solve complex problems. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to work within a team and in a multicultural environment. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Work Location & Conditions
- Location: The role is based in Doha, Qatar, with the potential for regular visits or work rotations to offshore facilities as required by the project.
