Painting Inspector Job in Muscat, Oman

International Corrosion Services LLC is currently seeking applications for the position of Painting Inspector in Muscat, Oman. This role presents an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals in the field of corrosion control and industrial/structural painting to join a leading company in this critical specialty.

Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The appointed Painting Inspector will be based at various project sites managed by the company, with a primary focus on ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in painting and protective coating applications. The core responsibilities of this position include:

  • Planning & Execution: Participating in the planning and execution of painting inspection programs throughout all project phases, from surface preparation to final application.
  • Quality Control: Conducting meticulous inspections before, during, and after painting operations to verify that materials and processes comply with agreed technical specifications (e.g., SSPC, NACE, or project-specific standards).
  • Environmental Monitoring: Monitoring and measuring ambient conditions (such as temperature, humidity, dew point) to ensure their suitability for painting work.
  • Thickness & Adhesion Testing: Using specialized tools and equipment (e.g., thickness gauges, adhesion testers) to measure dry film thickness (DFT) and ensure proper adhesion to the substrate.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Preparing detailed daily and monthly inspection reports, documenting findings, observations, and any deviations from specifications using photographs and logged data.
  • Team Coordination: Working closely with execution teams, engineers, and supervisors to clarify specification requirements and resolve any technical issues that arise on-site.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensuring strict adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols at the work site.

Qualifications and Key Requirements

To be a suitable candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A diploma or bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil) or any related technical field.
  • Professional Certifications: Possession of internationally recognized certifications in coating inspection and corrosion control such as NACE Coating Inspector Level 1 or 2 (Preferred), SSPCI, or FROSIO. Priority will be given to certified inspectors.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in a similar role as a Painting Inspector, preferably within industrial environments like Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Power, or Marine and Infrastructure construction.
  • Technical Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of industry standards and specifications (SSPC, NACE, ISO).
    • Proficiency in using specialized painting inspection tools (thickness gauges, surface profile gauges, adhesion testers).
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and job specifications.
  • Personal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication and reporting skills, high attention to detail, ability to work independently or as part of a team, and flexibility to work at different sites across Oman as per project requirements.
