Seeh Al Sarya Engineering LLC is actively recruiting for the position of Planning, Costing & Scheduling Engineer to be based at their headquarters in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The selected engineer will be responsible for the vital aspects of engineering project management, with a focus on strategic planning, cost control, and accurate scheduling. Core responsibilities include:

  • Project Plan Development: Preparing comprehensive and detailed project plans encompassing work scope, activity timelines, resource allocation (human and material), and budget estimates.
  • Cost Management: Developing initial project cost estimates and monitoring actual expenditures against the approved budget throughout the project lifecycle. This includes identifying causes of variances and proposing corrective actions.
  • Schedule Formulation: Creating and updating detailed project schedules using specialized software (such as Primavera P6 or MS Project), ensuring alignment between the activities of all stakeholders (contractors, suppliers, internal teams).
  • Risk Analysis: Identifying potential risks that could impact schedule or cost and developing mitigation plans.
  • Reporting: Generating regular (weekly/monthly) progress reports on project status, cost performance, variances from the baseline plan, and presenting them to company management and clients.
  • Coordination & Support: Working closely with Project Managers, engineers, and procurement and site execution teams to ensure project delivery aligns with planned benchmarks.
  • Contractor Proposal Review: Analyzing contractor proposals for schedule, cost, and compliance with project requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field) from an accredited university. A Master's degree in Project Management or a related field is a distinct advantage.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in a similar role (Planning, Costing/Scheduling Engineer) within the construction, engineering, or oil & gas sector. Experience on major projects in the Gulf region is a significant competitive advantage.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced proficiency in project planning software, especially Oracle Primavera P6. Proficiency in Microsoft Project is also essential.
    • Strong knowledge of project management principles (PMI) and performance measurement techniques (e.g., Earned Value Management - EVM).
    • Excellent skills in using the Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel for complex analysis).
  • Personal Skills:
    • Strong analytical and deductive skills with a keen attention to detail.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet challenges while maintaining accuracy.
    • Leadership skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
