Planning & Scheduling Engineer - Doha, Qatar

Global Strategic Trading and Contracting is currently inviting applications for the position of Planning & Scheduling Engineer to be based in their Al Khor, Doha office. Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The Planning & Scheduling Engineer will be responsible for the critical aspects of ensuring projects run according to schedule and budget. Key responsibilities include:

• Developing detailed project plans and work schedules using specialized software such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
• Creating and analyzing project timelines (schedules), identifying the critical path for project activities.
• Monitoring the progress of ongoing projects and comparing actual performance against approved baselines.
• Preparing regular progress reports for project managers and senior management, highlighting status, challenges, and schedule variances.
• Collaborating closely with project managers, engineering, procurement, and execution teams to ensure integrated work plans.
• Identifying potential risks that may impact the schedule and proposing mitigation plans.
• Updating project schedules regularly to reflect changes in scope, resources, or any unforeseen conditions.
• Contributing to cost and resource estimations required for project completion during various planning stages.

Qualifications & Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or a related engineering field.
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience in a similar role (Planning & Scheduling Engineer) within the contracting, strategic trading, or engineering projects sector.
• Strong, demonstrable proficiency in project planning software, with a strong preference for experience in Oracle Primavera P6.
• In-depth understanding of project management principles (PMI) and scheduling methodologies.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and present it clearly.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
• Knowledge of standards and best practices in the contracting industry within Qatar and the GCC will be a significant advantage.
