Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The Pool Attendant will be stationed at a private residential property or luxury compound in Muscat. The primary role is the complete oversight of the family pool's operation and maintenance, focusing on providing a safe, enjoyable, and comfortable experience for family members and their guests. Key expected responsibilities include:
- Daily Maintenance & Operation: Ensuring the daily cleanliness and clarity of the pool water. Correctly managing chemical levels (chlorine, pH, etc.) to maintain health and safety standards. Operating and maintaining pool equipment such as pumps, filters, and heating systems.
- Safety & Security: Constant vigilance over the pool area to ensure the safety of all users, especially children. Ensuring the availability of essential safety equipment like lifebuoys, rescue poles, and a first-aid kit. Adhering to all safety protocols and usage guidelines.
- Exceptional Guest Service: Providing proactive and courteous service to family members. This may include setting up the pool area prior to use (arranging loungers, umbrellas, providing towels), serving cool beverages upon request (if within specified duties), and promptly responding to any requests or needs.
- General Cleanliness: Maintaining the overall cleanliness of the pool area and its surroundings such as changing rooms (if available), deck areas, and relaxation furniture.
- Inventory & Supplies: Monitoring stock levels of chemicals, cleaning supplies, towels, and other necessities, and reporting to the supervisor in a timely manner for replenishment.
- Discretion & Confidentiality: Maintaining strict confidentiality and privacy regarding the family and their lifestyle. This is a fundamental and required trait for anyone working in a private household setting.
Required Qualifications and Skills
To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Practical Experience: Proven previous experience in a similar role as a pool attendant, pool maintenance worker, or in a hospitality position within a luxury hotel or resort. Experience working in a private residential setting is a significant advantage.
- Technical Knowledge: Practical understanding of pool maintenance procedures, water quality testing, and the safe handling of chemicals. A certification in pool safety or first-aid would be a strong asset.
- Personal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a polite demeanor. A positive attitude and high reliability. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a larger service team.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physical tasks involving prolonged standing, lifting, and handling equipment, sometimes in warm weather conditions.
- Appearance & Conduct: Neat and tidy appearance, with professional conduct that respects the private nature of the setting.
- Legal Residency: Applicants must be legally resident in the Sultanate of Oman with a valid work permit, or be prepared to relocate to Muscat if a work visa is arranged by the eligible employer.
