AtkinsRealis Group (formerly SNC-Lavalin), a global leader in engineering, design, and project management consultancy, is inviting applications for the high-level position of Radioactive Waste Senior Consultant to join their specialized team in Dubai. This role represents an exceptional opportunity for highly experienced professionals to become part of a prestigious organization and contribute to complex, mission-critical projects across the region and the globe.

Job and Company Overview

AtkinsRealis is a global powerhouse in the engineering and construction sector. Headquartered in Canada, it has a strong presence and landmark projects worldwide, including the Middle East, where it is involved in some of the most ambitious energy, infrastructure, and resources projects.

In this context, the team in Dubai is seeking a Senior Consultant with deep expertise in Radioactive Waste Management. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialized consultancy expertise to clients, ensuring compliance with the highest international standards and local regulations, and overseeing the development and implementation of safe and sustainable strategies for the disposal or recycling of radioactive waste.

Key Expected Responsibilities and Duties

While a detailed description is not provided, the nature of a "Senior Consultant" role in a firm of AtkinsRealis's caliber indicates a set of high-level responsibilities, likely including:

  • Technical Leadership: Providing advanced consultancy expertise and technical oversight on radioactive waste management projects for clients in sectors such as power (particularly nuclear), healthcare, industry, and research.
  • Strategy Development: Assisting in developing and evaluating lifecycle management strategies and plans for radioactive waste, from generation to final disposal.
  • Compliance & Regulations: Ensuring all solutions and proposals comply with local regulations in the UAE and neighboring countries, as well as stringent international nuclear safety and security standards (e.g., IAEA standards).
  • Project Management: Leading or significantly contributing to project teams, managing schedules and budgets, and ensuring project delivery within scope and to the highest quality standards.
  • Business Development: Contributing to business development activities, including preparing strong technical and financial proposals (bids) for new and existing clients.
  • Capacity Building: Training and mentoring junior staff, transferring knowledge to enhance the capabilities of the local and regional team.

Required Qualifications and Prerequisites

Given the responsibility level and precise specialization of this role, the ideal candidate is expected to possess the following qualifications:

  • Educational Background: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree (preferably a Master's or PhD) in Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 10-15 years of experience in radioactive waste management, with a significant portion in a senior consultancy or technical advisory role. Experience in the Middle East region will be a significant advantage.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of radioactive waste treatment, conditioning, storage, and disposal technologies (e.g., solidification, vitrification, deep geological repository).
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of local (UAE's Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation) and international radiation safety regulations and frameworks.
  • Personal Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal) in English (Arabic is an advantage). Ability to lead teams and work under pressure, with outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.

Work Location and Benefits

The position will be based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, a global economic hub and a major destination for mega-projects in the region. Dubai offers a dynamic working environment and a high standard of living.

A company like AtkinsRealis typically offers a competitive benefits package, including a tax-free salary, comprehensive health insurance, housing and transportation allowances, annual flight tickets, and opportunities for professional development and training.

How to Apply for the Position

Applications for this position are made via the online platform where it was advertised (NaukriGulf). Interested candidates who meet the outlined criteria should prepare a professional, up-to-date resume in English, highlighting specific relevant experiences and achievements in radioactive waste management and consultancy. The CV should include details of past projects, the scope of responsibilities, and any relevant professional certifications.
