Mohammad Al Bahri Trading and Contracting is actively recruiting for the position of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Engineer. This is a unique remote work opportunity based in Muscat, Oman. Job Description

The HSE Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety systems and procedures within the company, with a core focus on ensuring full compliance with local and international regulations. Given the remote nature of the role, it will require a high degree of self-discipline and proficiency in using digital tools for communication and management.

Key Expected Responsibilities:

  • Develop and update the company's Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures.
  • Conduct remote risk assessments and provide necessary mitigation recommendations.
  • Design and deliver virtual training programs for company employees on safety practices.
  • Review and evaluate incident reports and investigations (if any) and prepare root cause analysis reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Omani safety and environmental legislation and regulations.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other engineers via digital communication platforms to integrate safety considerations into all work stages.
  • Prepare and present periodic safety performance reports to senior management.
  • Stay updated on the latest best practices and developments in safety engineering.

Requirements and Qualifications

To qualify for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

Educational Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field).
  • Professional certifications in HSE (such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) will be a significant advantage.

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in an HSE Engineer role or similar, preferably within the contracting or related industries.
  • Prior experience in remote work or virtual/collaborative work environments will be highly regarded.
  • In-depth knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (e.g., OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001).
  • Strong familiarity with Omani safety and environmental laws and regulations.

Personal and Technical Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
  • High proficiency in computer use, Microsoft Office Suite, and remote collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, Zoom, Slack).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management and prioritization abilities in a remote work setting.
