Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The appointed Road Design Engineer will be integrated into the firm's engineering design team, bearing responsibility for the technical and design aspects of road development projects. The core responsibilities associated with this position include:

• Preparing and developing detailed engineering designs for roads and transportation systems in compliance with the highest international standards (e.g., AASHTO) and locally adopted standards in the State of Qatar.
• Conducting necessary technical studies and analyses for the planning and design of road projects, including preliminary feasibility studies.
• Utilizing specialized Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, and earthworks/level analysis programs.
• Coordinating with other engineering disciplines within the company (electrical, mechanical, architectural) to ensure design integration.
• Preparing technical reports, tender documents, and project specifications.
• Reviewing engineering drawings and plans, verifying their accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
• Providing technical support during construction phases and resolving any design-related issues that may arise on-site.
• Ensuring full compliance with all applicable safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited university. A Master's degree in Highway or Transportation Engineering is a strong advantage.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in road and infrastructure design, with a proven track record of successful projects. Experience on major infrastructure projects within the GCC region, particularly in Qatar, will be highly prioritized.
• Technical Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency in engineering design software, especially the Autodesk suite (AutoCAD Civil 3D).
  • In-depth knowledge of road design standards (AASHTO, Qatari Ministry of Public Works standards).
  • Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles and traffic flow analysis.
  • Ability to prepare quantity take-offs and preliminary cost estimates.
• Personal Skills: Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, a keen eye for detail and accuracy, and strong problem-solving and time-management abilities.
