Job Overview

The Safety Manager will hold a pivotal role in ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all employees and contractors on site. Given the nature of the company's operations in asphalt production and ready-mix concrete, this position demands a profound understanding of industry-specific hazards and local/international safety regulations. The successful candidate will be the primary authority responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring all company safety programs, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Develop, implement, and continuously update a comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) program aligned with industry best practices and Bahraini regulations, including Labor Law and Civil Defense requirements.
• Lead and direct the safety team to ensure daily compliance with all safety procedures across all company departments and work sites.
• Conduct regular Risk Assessments and Safety Audits for all operations, equipment, and facilities.
• Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and develop corrective and preventive action plans to prevent recurrence.
• Design and deliver effective, ongoing training programs for all employees on safety practices, material handling, and the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Prepare and present periodic reports on safety performance, statistics, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to senior management.
• Ensure all equipment and machinery meet safety standards and that routine maintenance procedures are correctly followed.
• Act as the primary liaison with relevant government and regulatory bodies concerning safety and environmental matters in Bahrain.
• Foster a positive safety culture within the company through awareness campaigns and incentive programs.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Industrial, Mechanical), Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field. A Master’s degree may be an advantage.
• A recognized professional certification in safety such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalent. A NEBOSH Diploma is a strong advantage.
• Minimum of 7 to 10 years of practical experience in safety management, with proven experience in similar industrial environments such as asphalt plants, ready-mix concrete, construction, or heavy industries.
• In-depth knowledge of international safety management systems (e.g., OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001) and experience in their implementation.
• Thorough understanding of local safety, environmental, and labor regulations in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
• Excellent leadership and managerial skills with the ability to train teams and influence behavior.
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic is a significant advantage.
• Ability to work under pressure and make quick, decisive decisions in emergency situations.
