Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The Senior Risk Manager will play a critical role in safeguarding project success and corporate assets. The core responsibilities will include:
- Developing & Implementing the Risk Framework: Lead the design, establishment, and implementation of comprehensive enterprise and project-level risk management policies, strategies, and procedures. Ensure alignment with global best practices and regulatory standards.
- Leadership & Guidance: Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and direction to the risk management team. Foster talent development and ensure effective integration of risk activities across all project departments.
- Identification, Analysis & Evaluation: Proactively lead comprehensive risk identification processes (financial, operational, strategic, project-related) across all project lifecycle phases. Conduct advanced qualitative and quantitative risk analysis to assess probability and impact.
- Mitigation & Planning: Develop effective, innovative response plans and mitigation strategies for high-priority risks. Monitor the implementation of these plans and measure their effectiveness.
- Reporting & Communication: Prepare clear, concise, and regular risk status reports for senior management and key stakeholders. Deliver actionable insights and ensure complete transparency regarding the risk profile.
- Review & Continuous Improvement: Periodically review and assess the effectiveness of the existing risk management framework. Propose enhancements to strengthen organizational resilience and risk culture.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
To qualify for this leadership role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical), Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree (e.g., MBA, Risk Management) or recognized professional certifications (e.g., PMI-RMP, IRM) is a significant advantage.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 10 to 15 years of direct risk management experience, with a strong focus on the construction, infrastructure, energy, or major projects sector. This must include at least 5 years in a leadership role supervising a team.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of risk management methodologies (e.g., ISO 31000, PMI-RMP), quantitative analysis tools, and specialized risk management software. Strong grasp of the financial, technical, and contractual aspects of mega-projects.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams within a complex, multicultural project environment. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and influencing skills at all organizational levels.
- Analytical Abilities: Superior capability to analyze complex data, identify patterns, develop scenarios, and formulate clear, strategic recommendations.
- Language Proficiency: Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory. Arabic language skills are a strong, desirable advantage.
