A leading entity within Saudi Arabia's industrial sector is seeking a highly qualified professional to fill the critical role of Technical Safety Deputy Lead. Job Overview

The Technical Safety Deputy Lead will occupy a strategic position within the organizational structure, responsible for supporting and executing comprehensive technical safety strategies and procedures. You will work closely with the safety team and senior management to ensure full compliance with the highest international and local standards, with a core focus on accident prevention and the protection of assets and personnel.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Leadership & Support: Provide leadership support to the technical safety team, oversee daily activities, and ensure the effective implementation of safety plans.
  • Policy & System Development: Contribute to the development, review, and updating of technical safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to align with evolving best practices and standards.
  • Risk Assessment & Management: Lead and conduct in-depth risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP, Job Hazard Analysis), identify potential hazards, and develop effective mitigation plans.
  • Compliance & Auditing: Ensure all operations and facilities comply with Saudi safety regulations (e.g., former SCARE regulations) and relevant international standards (e.g., NFPA, API, IEC). Plan and conduct periodic safety audits.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead or supervise thorough investigations into any incidents or near-misses, determine root causes, and formulate corrective recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Training & Awareness: Design and implement training programs to enhance employee awareness of technical safety principles and build strong internal competencies.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed and clear reports on safety performance, incidents, and audit activities for presentation to senior management.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance departments to integrate safety considerations into all phases of project lifecycle and operations.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Safety Engineering) from an accredited university. A relevant Master's degree will be a distinct advantage.
  • Professional Certification: A recognized professional certification in safety (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma, CSP, or equivalent) is highly required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 to 12 years of practical experience in technical safety, with a strong focus on industrial, oil & gas, petrochemical, or manufacturing environments. This must include at least 3-5 years in leadership or supervisory roles.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of international safety standards and regulations (OSHA, NFPA, API, IEC) and local regulations (Saudi Civil Defense, Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), etc.).
  • Skills: Excellent leadership and supervisory skills. Superior analytical and complex problem-solving abilities. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English. Proficiency in using specialized safety software and applications.
  • Personal Attributes: A motivational leader, proactive thinker, with high integrity and a strong attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and make decisive decisions.

Job Location

This position is based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It may require work at industrial sites or projects in various regions within the Kingdom.
