Job Overview

The Welding Supervisor will play a pivotal role within the operations department, being directly responsible for supervising welding teams and executing various welding operations for marine engineering projects. The focus is on ensuring all tasks are performed according to the highest applicable local and international quality and safety standards, with strict adherence to technical specifications and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Daily supervision of welding operations (which may include Arc, TIG, Pipe welding, etc.) in the factory workshop or on project sites.
  • Planning and assigning tasks to welders and welding inspectors, ensuring the availability of necessary materials and equipment.
  • Monitoring and inspecting weld quality to ensure compliance with engineering and design specifications (e.g., ASME, AWS, API standards).
  • Enforcing and implementing all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols stringently to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Training and mentoring less experienced technicians to improve their technical skills.
  • Coordinating with project engineers and production managers to ensure smooth workflow according to the timeline.
  • Preparing daily reports on work progress, productivity, and any challenges or non-conformities.
  • Maintaining equipment and reporting any technical malfunctions.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Technology, or a related field. A university degree is a distinct advantage.
  • Professional welding certifications (such as AWS, ASME, or equivalent) are highly required.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of practical experience in welding, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role within a marine or heavy industrial environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of various welding techniques and material specifications (carbon steel, alloy steel, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of Quality Control (QC) standards and HSE protocols.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to manage a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
