
Széchenyi István University is located in Győr, at the centre of Central Europe’s “golden triangle”, midway between the capitals of Hungary, Austria and Slovakia. The main campus of Széchenyi István University, situated on the banks of the River Danube and only a few minutes’ walk from the city centre of Győr, has undergone major infrastructural development in recent years. This includes the expansion of the University’s student accommodation with two new, high-quality and well-equipped Student Halls of Residence within the Multifunctional Building. The vibrant campus is home to nine diverse faculties in two different cities (Győr and Mosonmagyaróvár) and forms the heart of a rapidly growing innovation ecosystem, complemented by the ZalaZone and Győr Innovation Parks as well as the Smart Farm in Mosonmagyaróvár. Together, these facilities provide an inspiring environment for education, research, and collaboration between academia and industry. Currently under development is a state-of-the-art Science and Innovation Park, on a 3.6-hectare site, facing the University on the opposite bank of the River Danube. The first phase was opened in 2023, with the Park set to be one of Hungary's most influential science, technology and business environments, providing tenant companies and start-ups with an environment of innovation and creativity. The mission of the development is to enhance collaboration between large, medium and small sized enterprises, university researchers and talented students of the University. The Győr Science Park is being built in 2 phases. Phase I is already completed and in operation, Phase II is planned to be underway from 2025 with an estimated completion of 2028. As evidence of the University’s strong commitment to internationalization, more than 60 English-taught programmes at all Academic levels will be on offer from September 2025. For Bachelor’s level, the University offers 10+ English-taught programmes . For Master’s level, there are 30+ English-taught programmes to choose from. We also offer the following Double Degrees for the academic year: Business Administration (MBA) with the University of Rhode Island, Kingston RI (USA); an MSc in Tourism Management together with the Polytechnic of Leiria, Portugal; an MSc in International Economics and Business with the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio, Italy, and an MSc in International Economics and Business with Integral University, Lucknow, India. Three of our four Doctoral Schools offer English-taught Doctoral Programmes as follows: Business and Management Sciences, Crop Sciences, Animal Sciences, Food Engineering, Transport Sciences, Informatics and Civil Engineering. In addition to full degrees, the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences offers two postgraduate programmes in the field of Law and Governance, while the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Transport Sciences is offering the Aviation Engineering and Aviation Specialist English-taught programmes. Our University also offers unique professional training and research opportunities in the region, serving engineering-focused production activities, helping to build the North-Transdanubian economy and its social and institutional infrastructure. We provide students with a high-level, professional, and practical education. Graduates are thus able to adapt to the highly competitive and changing market place. SZE has 45 years of tradition and experience in supporting Hungary ́s leading industries with a strong focus on vehicle engineering, transportation and telecommunication. As a result, our University has become the primary driver of the regional economy provider for the public service sector and supplies the human resources and training needs for the North-Transdanubian region. Since 2015, the University has been cooperating with Audi Hungaria Zrt, jointly founding the Audi Hungaria Faculty of Automotive Engineering, which now boasts six professorships: internal combustion engines, automotive manufacturing technology, complete vehicle development, material science and technology, environmental engineering, logistics and shipping. The company’s specialist involvement at the University of Győr is intensified by the large extent of direct participation of Audi Hungaria experts in lectures and research.
