Basic Inferential Statistics for Psychology

This specialization was created to elevate the public’s understanding of, regard for, and use of psychology and strengthen APA’s standing as an authoritative voice for psychology. Specifically, to introduce the use of inferential statistics in psychological research, including the z-test, the varieties of the t-test, chi-square tests, and the use of statistical software for exploring these statistics

• Explain the relationship between z-scores and area under the curve
• Compare and select appropriate z- and t-tests for research scenarios
• Identify when to use chi-square tests and suitable hypotheses

• Basic computer and internet skills
• Ability to follow course instructions in English and complete short exercises
