Blue Economy & Sustainable Aquaculture:The Blue Economy is rapidly emerging as a critical driver of sustainable growth, shaping how nations manage oceans, coasts, and inland water resources for food security, livelihoods, and climate resilience.
The Blue Economy & Sustainable Aquaculture course examines the responsible use of marine, coastal, and freshwater ecosystems to balance economic development with ecological conservation, offering a multidisciplinary perspective on sustainable aquaculture and blue growth. The course equips learners with practical skills to design responsible aquaculture projects, manage value chains and cluster-based models, and apply circular resource-use principles across production systems. It also builds the capability to assess projects through policy, governance, and market lenses, strengthening decision-making across the aquaculture value chain. In addition, the course highlights the role of financial institutions and policymakers in enabling sustainable investment through risk-aware financing, insurance mechanisms, and ESG-aligned approaches that support long-term ocean and aquatic ecosystem health.
