The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
This course is an introduction to the theory and practice of airport pricing and the regulation of airport prices. The airport industry is a fascinating industry, and in this course, we will familiarize you with important aspects of airport management and policies and, as you can tell from the title itself, most of them related to the pricing of airport services. Beyond discussing pricing issues, it will provide background information concerning airport businesses around the globe.
This course is relevant for anyone who is interested in airport businesses, but also to those who are interested in aviation or even transport in general, and to those who are interested in the pricing and regulation of any type of infrastructure. More specifically, the insights apply to airports and other stakeholders in the aviation supply chain such as Air Traffic Management. They further apply to other transport industries such as the rail industry but also to the management of infrastructure in the, for example, telecommunication or energy sectors. Many of the insights taught in this course involve fundamental economic issues. We therefore hope that, with this course, we can contribute to the education of a broad range of learners with diverse backgrounds and interests.
