“Classical thermodynamics is the only universal physical theory” (Einstein). Let us master the "key to thermodynamics" and open the door to a new era of chemical engineering theory and application.
Classical thermodynamics will be presented as a deductive discipline based on four fundamental assumptions. The laws of thermodynamics will be derived from a small number of assumptions based on our everyday experience. The results of these laws will then help us solve practical problems arising in modern chemical/biochemical engineering related to the equilibrium properties of systems. These basic laws of thermodynamics will further help us solve practical problems related to the equilibrium properties of systems. The main contents of the course are as follows: 0. Preface 1. Basic assumptions of thermodynamics 2. First law of thermodynamics 3. The second law of thermodynamics 4. Thermodynamic calculations 5. Balance 6. Stability 7. Properties of pure materials 8. Properties of the mixture 9. Non-electrolyte solutions
