Job Overview
The Pediatric Medical Imaging Consultant holds a pivotal role within the Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging department of a hospital or medical center. The focus is on providing expert interpretation of a wide range of medical imaging examinations performed on pediatric patients, from neonates to adolescents. This specialized expertise ensures accurate diagnosis, which is the cornerstone for developing appropriate treatment plans for complex and sensitive pediatric health conditions.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Interpret and evaluate results from specialized pediatric medical imaging examinations, including but not limited to X-rays, Ultrasound, Computed Tomography (CT), and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
- Prepare accurate, clear, and detailed diagnostic reports to assist referring clinicians (pediatricians, surgeons, etc.) in understanding the condition and determining the optimal treatment pathway.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary medical team including pediatricians, surgeons, and radiographers to provide integrated patient care.
- Supervise radiographers and ensure appropriate technical protocols are followed for each examination, with special consideration for safety and radiation dose reduction, particularly for children.
- Participate in clinical meetings and case discussions, presenting complex cases as required.
- Adhere to the highest standards of professional quality, safety, and medical ethics.
- Contribute to the training and development of radiology residents and radiographers in pediatric imaging, if required.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
- A recognized medical degree (MBBS or equivalent).
- Board Certification or Fellowship in Diagnostic Radiology from a recognized international authority.
- Sub-specialization or extensive, certified experience in Pediatric Imaging.
- A valid license to practice medicine (Saudi licensing requirements will be discussed during the interview process).
- Proven years of post-specialization practical experience in pediatric medical imaging.
- Exceptional diagnostic skills and the ability to interpret complex medical images accurately.
- In-depth knowledge of the anatomical and physiological imaging differences between children and adults.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) for interacting with the medical team and patients' families.
- Proficiency in English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic is a significant advantage.
