Materials Engineer Position at HanmiGlobal MENA in Kuwait

Job Description
The appointed Materials Engineer will be based at the company's project sites in Kuwait, responsible for the technical aspects related to construction and building materials. They will work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, and specification compliance are maintained throughout all project phases.
Key Expected Responsibilities:
- Material Inspection & Testing: Oversee the inspection and testing of incoming construction materials on-site (e.g., cement, steel, concrete, bricks, insulation) to ensure compliance with technical specifications and contractual agreements.
- Quality Assurance & Control: Develop and implement quality assurance and control plans for materials used. Ensure all materials adhere to relevant local and international standards.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare detailed technical reports on inspection and test results, and maintain accurate records of all materials used in the project.
- Coordination with Suppliers & Contractors: Act as a technical liaison between the company, suppliers, and subcontractors regarding material quality and supply.
- Technical Problem-Solving: Investigate any material-related issues or non-conformities and propose appropriate corrective and preventive solutions.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and advice to the project team regarding material selection, properties, and performance.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:
Educational Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a closely related engineering field from an accredited university.
- Professional certifications in Quality Assurance and Materials Control (e.g., CQA, CMxP) will be a significant advantage.
Work Experience:
- Proven practical experience of 3 to 5 years in a similar role (Materials Engineer, QA/QC Engineer) within the construction or engineering industry.
- Previous experience working on major construction projects in the GCC region, specifically in Kuwait, will be a major plus.
- In-depth knowledge of local (Kuwaiti PAII specifications) and international (ASTM, BS, ACI) building material standards and codes.
Personal & Professional Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, in both Arabic and English.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and engineering documentation software.
