Job Description

The successful designer for this role will occupy a pivotal position in the machine and automated system development lifecycle. Responsibilities will focus on designing and developing integrated mechatronic machines and automation systems that meet the demands of modern, precision manufacturing. The designer will work within a multidisciplinary team, contributing expertise from the initial concept through prototyping and final manufacturing.

Key expected tasks include:

  • Mechanical Design: Using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor to design precise mechanical components and systems.
  • System Integration: Integrating mechanical components with electrical, electronic, and control systems (actuators, sensors, control circuits).
  • Control Programming: Developing and implementing Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programs and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) for automation systems.
  • Modeling & Simulation: Creating virtual models and simulating system performance to verify functionality and optimize efficiency before manufacturing.
  • Technical Documentation: Preparing detailed drawings, Bills of Materials (BOM), and operation/maintenance manuals.
  • Performance Testing & Analysis: Overseeing prototype builds and conducting rigorous testing, analyzing data to refine designs.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Working closely with electrical engineers, software engineers, and the production team to ensure project success.

Requirements & Qualifications

To be an ideal candidate for this position, you should meet the following criteria:

Educational Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced certifications or accredited courses in automated system design or PLC programming are preferred.

Professional Experience:

  • Proven practical experience of at least 3 to 5 years in designing mechatronic machines or industrial automation systems.
  • A track record of successful design projects from concept to implementation in an industrial setting.
  • Experience working with global manufacturing standards and safety regulations.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in CAD software for mechanical design (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor).
  • Deep knowledge of control principles and systems (PLC, PID, motion systems).
  • Strong understanding of electrical and electronic components (actuators, sensors, vision systems).
  • Skills in PLC programming (on platforms such as Siemens TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley RSLogix).
  • Knowledge of modeling and simulation software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to read and create electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
